We keep bees, because we love bees. A by product of keeping bees is honey. Our honey is special because it is from the heart of Los Angeles. It’s not from North Dakota, or Texas, or Brazil. And it sure ain’t from the worst place of all, China (more on that later). We are learning about how to nurture and build nests for native bees too, even though they don’t make honey that we can harvest.
We didn’t start beekeeping to be part of any revoluton, but here we are four years later, and we are part of a tectonic shift in how people source their food, and the people who make it happen.
Mark Bittman, of the NY Times, wrote a great piece on the UN’s main man on food policy. Check it out.
